Wojciech Szczesny has admitted that he would be happy to spend another season on loan in Rome and with the Italians buying a keeper who might not be able to play immediately, Woj might just get the chance.

Roma have apparently agreed a deal to bring the Brazilian Alisson to the club but as he does not hold an EU passport and will be playing in the Olympics in Rio, the club need cover until he arrives.

After shelling out €7.5m to Internacional for Alisson’s signature they are obviously reluctant to buy another keeper meaning that Woj could get the chance to stay on loan, something their manager seems keen on.

It’s an agreement that would suit Szczesny as well.

Speaking to Zbiginew Boniek, Polish football legend, Forza Roma asked him about Woj. “Certainly, he wants to play,” Boniek said.

“In Rome he’s fine, I talked to him a few days ago in Poland. Wojciech is very happy with Roma, he’s happy with everything there in Rome.”

Let’s face it, Woj is better than David Ospina by a distance but he’s not getting into the first team next season unless something horrible happens to Petr Cech. Another year on loan could see him mature and improve further before the Gunners bring him back and start integrating him back into the first team as Cech’s natural successor.
