With a 3-0 win against relegation rivals Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, Sunderland gave themselves a big chance of staying in the Premier League.

The Black Cats have managed incredible comebacks in recent seasons when it looked like they were all but relegated and are could be on the brink of something similar this time around after beating Norwich.

It was a first win in seven for Sam Allardyce’s men, who took a first half lead through a Fabio Borini penalty after a foolish foul from Andre Wisdom.

Jermain Defoe doubled the lead after the break before an injury time strike from Duncan Watmore sealed all three points.

Sunderland are now just a point behind Norwich City, who are safe as things stand, and have a game in hand. With Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton left to play their run in is far from simple and they will be desperate for points wherever they can come by them.

That might not be good news for the Gunners, who have been stuttering all year and suffered a big blow to confidence last weekend against West Ham United. The team has a good record at Sunderland in recent seasons after years of failing to win there and will have to give everything to carry that on against a Sam Allardyce side fighting for their Premier League future.
