A worrying statistic uncovered by the Mirror proves that Olivier Giroud is simply not good enough to be Arsenal’s first choice striker.

The Frenchman has gone 14 games without a goal now. Only two other forwards in the Premier League, Siam de Jong (17) and Bafatembi Gomis (15), have gone longer. The thing is, both these players play for Newcastle and Swansea. No disrespect but Arsenal players should not be going through a goal drought of this magnitude if we want to challenge for the title.

Giroud hasn’t scored since January and with the amount Mesut Ozil has been providing, or at least trying to provide, he really should have better stats. In fact, it’s no wonder that we’ve failed to earn more points this season when Arsene Wenger has stuck by a man who can’t hit the net.

Of course, there is more to Giroud’s game than just goals (thank the Lord) and he’s by no means a bad player. Just, in front of goal, he’s been disappointing. Much like our season.
