Arsenal’s Emma Mitchell was involved in Scotland’s 3-1 win against Slovenia that sees them top of qualifying Group 1, three points ahead of Iceland.

Both sides boast a 100% record with Scotland on 15 points and Iceland on 12 points having played one game fewer. Scotland have an away game against Belarus and the home and away games against Iceland to play. Those head-to-head games are likely to decide who will top Group 1 and guarantee qualification for the European Championships next summer.

Scotland v Iceland will be played on the 3rd of June at Falkirk Stadium before the return fixture on the 20th September, the last day of the qualifiers.

Group winners and the six best runner-ups from the eight group will qualify for the Euro 2017 while the remaining runner-ups will play-off for the final place.

Scotland have therefore a good chance to qualify for their first ever international tournament. The Scotland squad currently boasts Emma Mitchell and former Arsenal players like Kim Little, Jennifer Beattie, and Christie Murray.
