Samir Nasri has made a dig about his current club, Manchester City’s, recruitment policy and lack of stability compared to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain.

The forward, who has spent the majority of the season sidelined with a hamstring injury and has only made nine appearances, appears frustrated with the way the Sky Blues’ run the show behind the scenes.

Speaking ahead of City’s Champions League tie with PSG, the 28-year-old praised the Ligue 1 club’s method of recruiting new players, hailing the fact that they speak to the existing team members before making a decision.

“Why? There’s much more stability at PSG,” he said.

“Leonardo built Blanc’s team, it’s a continuation of what was with Ancelotti. This is close to the same team that Ancelotti had, aside from one or two players. 

“At City we had some stability with Pellegrini, who spent three years. But in recruitment, it changes a lot, there are three to four new players who arrive each summer. This team of Paris, they know by heart, they are leaders. 

“They decide a little of everything that happens inside the club. It is important to have the opinion of the players. When the club wants to sign a player, Ibra, Thiago Silva give approval. If you want to grow, it is like that. The big clubs rely on their great players. Paris has understood. Nasser (Al-Khelaïfi) is there every day, the prince (Al-Thani) comes from time to time, which explains why Paris is ahead of City.”

Nasri is irritatingly outspoken and I’m sure his comments will have gone down like a fart in a lift at City HQ. Although having an opinion is one thing, voicing them to L’Equipe is another, especially when he is still very much at the club.

Nasri made his first Premier League appearance since October in City’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth and managed to get an assist.
