It looks increasingly unlikely that Arsenal are going to finish above Spurs again and, according to former Tottenham captain Ledley King, should be the focus of the fans at White Hart Lane.

The Lilywhites haven’t finished above Arsenal since 1995 when the Gunners ended up way down the table in 12th.

If you were a betting man, in which case 888 casino is the place to be, you’d say they are finally set to end the season with more points than an Arsenal side managed by Arsène Wenger for the first time.

“The fans would certainly enjoy that [finishing above Arsenal],” former Spurs captain Ledley King has told The Sun. Amazingly King, who never finished above Arsenal in his career, went on to say the number one target at this point is to finish above Arsenal, rather than win the title.

“Finishing in the top four was the aim at the start of the season. To be in with a chance to win the league is a bonus.

“Now the main aim is to finish above Arsenal.”

Very ambitious, Ledley! Never mind the fact that winning the league would also give the fans bragging rights.

With just five Premier League games remaining for Spurs (and six for Arsenal) the gap between the two sides is six points, so there’s certainly no guarantee the race is over. Arsenal have the simpler fixtures remaining but, more crucially, are in much worse form than their north London neighbours.

Suffice to say, Arsenal would be thinking much bigger if they were in second right now. That’s Spurs for you!
