Arsene Wenger has sent Gilles Grimandi to watch Dinamo Zagreb’s Josip Brekalo as the Gunners reportedly up their pursuit of the 17-year-old winger.

Brekalo has five league appearances for Dinamo Zagreb after being promoted to the first team in December. He had previously been playing with their u19 side, making five UEFA Youth League appearances, scoring three and assisting one.

The story appeared in the Mirrror on Sunday but the details were very sketchy to say the least. In fact, what is contained above was more than they had to say on the matter – they don’t even mention what position he plays.

That’s maybe because they aren’t sure.

Wikipedia list him as a striker and Transfermarkt as a left winger, but having watched a few Youtube videos, I’m now clearly an expert and can state that he plays mostly on the left.

That’s where Arsene would stick him anyway and you know it.

He’s out of contract next summer, so is it true?

There’s absolutely no way to tell with the information that’s around at the minute.

Even the reports on Croatian sites name the Mirror as their source and that’s not usually a promising sign, but you never know.
