Arsenal forward Joel Campbell hasn’t featured much recently but has impressed fans during this season, his first in England.

Injuries to Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott, then Alexis Sánchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain allowed Campbell to make Arsène Wenger’s first team squad.

Much to the surprise of most supporters, his diligence on and off the ball had him regularly in the side and Oxlade-Chamberlain on the bench.

A first Premier League campaign is coming to a close with the Costa Rican out of the side thanks to the return of Danny Welbeck and the emergence of Alex Iwobi but Campbell remains upbeat and happy with his experience in England’s top flight.

“It is really intense and when I thought about playing in England, I knew that the football here would challenge me a lot and that it would be both very fast and technical,” Campbell said to Arsenal Player.

The wide forward’s work ethic is superb and the main reason he coped with his first team duties as well as he did.

With the summer coming up and Iwobi now ahead of Campbell in the pecking order, transfer rumours may begin to surface. The Costa Rican, though, seems to be enamoured with English football.

“It is not harder than I expected. It is a competitive league, the games are really end-to-end, it is really fast and I’m really happy to be part of Arsenal and playing in the Premier League.

“You have to be very committed to the team, you have to have quality and you need to give your all.”

There’s no question that the 23-year-old does all that.
