Despite Arsene Wenger denying that Arsenal are interested in Granit Xhaka at this moment in time just days ago, the media are now reporting that we’ve submitted a £24m bid for the midfielder… a likely story… not.

The 23-year-old from Borussia Monchengladbach has been linked with a move to north London for a number of weeks now but Wenger, despite seeming pretty coy about the rumour previously, denied that we were looking to bring in any players at this point in time. He wants to just concentrate on the League.

With this in mind, it’s highly unlikely that we’ve made any sort of bid for the Swiss player. Our season isn’t over yet and although we’re not in any danger of actually winning anything this year (wow, what a relief…) it’s doubtful that we’ll be lodging any bids before the window is even open.

The transfer itself could still happen but I wouldn’t expect any genuine movement until summer.
