Emmanuel Adebayor isn’t gaining any fans at the Emirates anytime soon but the Crystal Palace striker insists that he finds the Gooners booing him funny.

The 32-year-old has always received a frosty reception (to say the least) at the Emirates after leaving for Manchester City for more money in 2009. Later in his career, he found himself with our north London rivals’, which only fanned the flames of disdain Arsenal fans harbour for him.

When Adebayor returned to the Emirates on Sunday with his new team, his reception was potentially even more venomous with many fans directing their anger at their own club at him. The striker, however, finds it amusing.

“It is not my first time coming back to play against Arsenal at the Emirates,” he said.

“You can see when I was on the bench and warming up and they were booing me I was just laughing.

“I cannot say I’m used to it because it is not good to get used to this kind of stuff.

“But at the end of the day it is funny, the weather was good, we were playing in London and 20 minutes from my house, I have to be happy. If I’m not happy then something is wrong.”

Booing former players isn’t something I’m particularly interested in. As a fan of a club who is treading water in all aspects, I have far more preoccupying thoughts. From his point of view, he’s reached pantomime levels of booing, which is pretty amusing considering the pay cheque he’s probably taking home every week.
