Arsenal midfielders Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla could both return in time to face Watford in the Premier League at the beginning of April.

It would be a timely boost, with the thigh injury suffered by Aaron Ramsey on Tuesday evening expected to rule the midfielder out for a few weeks at the very least.

According to the Mirror, Cazorla is expected to return on 2nd April, and the same applies to Wilshere, who has just started light training.

Spanish midfielder Cazorla was expected to be back sooner, but an issue with his Achilles flared up as he stepped up his progress from the knee injury suffered at the end of November. The setback was an unexpected one, but new signing Mohamed Elneny seems capable of softening the blow. Without Ramsey too, however, Arsenal begin to look a little thin in midfield.

Jack Wilshere, meanwhile, is running again and in light training for the first time this season. The 24-year-old suffered a fractured tibia in pre-season and has since had surgery when recovery wasn’t as quick as expected. It’s been a long way back but, if he can get fit, his return would be a massive boost.

Sunday sees Arsenal play an FA Cup quarter-final against Watford before travelling to play Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. Then there is just one Premier League game (against Everton) before the international break. All going well, we will have two midfielders back when others return from representing their countries.
