Arsene Wenger wants Arsenal fans to show solidarity going into the final stages of the season.

Speaking ahead of our midweek match against Swansea in the Premier League, the boss highlighted the importance of staying together and getting behind the team.

“That’s what we want to do, transform the negatives around us into positives and create even more solidarity,” he said on the topic of togetherness.

“I like very much the fact we can compete, that we have something inside the club and this club has been built before me on values and what we try to do is respect these values. When we have a disappointing game we try to show these values, that means solidarity, togetherness, fighting together.

“What you want from your fans is to fight together until the last day of the season. What we have learnt from the league is it is very tight, everybody can drop points and the teams and the fans who can show togetherness and solidarity until the end might come out of it in a positive way. That’s what you want, fight until the end of the season and not give up when you have a bad game or a bad result. That’s what fans and players and teams and clubs are about.”

I agree that we’ll get nowhere if we don’t get behind the team. The 12th man is a very real concept that the players have said themselves works. However, it’s difficult to show this solidarity that Wenger’s talking about when the team simply isn’t performing. Support is a two-way street and if we aren’t getting inspired by the players, it’s hard to sing their names.

Of course, it’s not just about the individual players or even the manager and our support of the club goes far beyond them. But they still need to give us hope and remind us why we’re there.

Our match against Swansea is huge. Although saying that, I don’t think we’ve got any easy games left. We have to win or that’s it.
