Nearing the end of his stay at Paris Saint-Germain, the last week or two has seen plenty of talk around the future of Zlatan Ibrahimović.

The Swede turns 35 in October and will have huge wage demands with his contract with PSG expiring. Nonetheless someone will want him, given his proven quality and track record. Will that someone be Arsenal and Arsène Wenger?

“At the moment no, we are not on that case,” said the manager on Friday morning, giving full attention to the Premier League game against Everton this weekend. “We have other worries at the moment in the short-term and we are not on Zlatan’s case. Even at 34 he has (had) a great season at Paris Saint-Germain.”

With 27 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season he has already helped PSG claim the French title. He’s scored a further four in the Champions League, including two against Chelsea, to help lead PSG into the quarter-finals.

One reporter seemed miffed and frankly a little offended that Wenger didn’t confirm interest in the striker, rather assertively asking why anyone wouldn’t want to sign the 34-year-old and misunderstanding that Wenger had only said he’s not interested in transfers yet because the season is still going on.

“At the moment you can understand that my priority before the Everton game is not to go on the transfer market for possible signings for next season. At the moment we are not thinking of signing anybody.”
