Arsene Wenger has shot down claims that he is, in fact, a deity ahead of our match with Watford.

The boss was responding to the question of whether Arsenal fans will ever be happy with how we’re doing, to which the manager responded that he doubts we will.

“Look, it’s never enough,” he said.

“As long as you don’t win everything, it’s never enough.

“When we didn’t win anything they said, ‘You didn’t even win the FA Cup’. People will always want more, which is normal – and it’s what we want as well.”

Wenger then went on a bit of a bizarre rant about not being God but then comparing Arsenal fans to Adam…

“I have not created human beings,” Wenger continued.

“That is God – if he exists. He didn’t make us perfect so we live with that. Even in paradise, Adam wasn’t happy!

“I honestly never believed I was God. What can I do? It is a perception of other people. It is a judgment. That creates belief. Is it right or wrong? I don’t know.

“All I know is that I give my best for this club and try to make sure my team do the same. After that it’s not down to me.”

The comparison itself is a clever one. However, it’s a little strange and out of character for the Frenchman, who is usually as cool as le cucumber, if a little irritated, in front of the press.

Perhaps the pressure is beginning to mount towards the end of what could be a huge season for Wenger, as well as Arsenal’s history. Will winning just the FA Cup and finishing top four again even be enough to keep the fans on side this time?
