Gabriel should be fit to face Watford despite missing out on training all week.

The centre-back was replaced on Tuesday against Hull when he just sat down with a problem no-one could work out.

It seemed he’d felt a twinge in his hamstring and, rather than risk a longer injury, decided to come off. A most sensible decision if you ask us.

So upon hearing the word ‘hamstring,’ I imagine you were as surprised as we were when it was revealed by Arsene Wenger that he should be fit to face the Hornets on Sunday. It’s even more surprising when you realised that he hasn’t trained since the incident.

“I don’t think he lost too much fitness,” Wenger told reporters who asked about Gabriel not being in training. “We’ll see.

“Honestly, I will have to make the decision tomorrow [Saturday]. At the moment, my gut feeling is that he will turn in tomorrow and be completely available.”

Per Mertesacker will also be available after picking up a mild concussion/dizziness when he smashed his face into the back of Nick Powell’s head.

Laurent Koscielny is out with a calf problem. It is unlikely he will be risked with Barcelona on the horizon, even though Wenger says the game against the Catalans in the Champions League will not influence his team selection this weekend.

Ok, then.
