Arsene Wenger revealed ahead of the Watford game that he knew all about the secret meeting held by players recently and insisted that it wasn’t the reason for our 4-0 win over Hull.

The boss was keen to point out before our second FA Cup match in a row that he was fully aware of the meeting the players called to talk about our season. In fact, he encouraged it!

“We manage this club in a very modern way,” Wenger revealed.

“We have many meetings with the players and sometimes we encourage them to have their own meetings.”

After we beat Hull at the KC Stadium, Theo Walcott revealed that the senior members of the Arsenal squad called a meeting without the manager to discuss how we tackle the rest of the season. A string a bad results has all but left us out of the title running and if we threw away the FA Cup as well, it would be bad news.

According to Wenger, however, the meeting took place far sooner than we’ve assumed.

“I was completely aware of that and I encouraged it,” he added.

“I would like to reiterate that it was before the Swansea game, which we lost, so it was not unusual and not a miraculous recipe [for winning].”

Is it just me or does Wenger sound a little touchy?
