Arsène Wenger has gone on the defensive after Arsenal’s latest loss.

A 2-1 defeat to Watford on Sunday sent us out of the FA Cup, and a terrible run of form in 2016 has the team on the edge of exiting the Premier League title race. All that, understandably, means fans and media are questioning the manager.

However, he isn’t happy with the criticism.

“It is becoming a farce. We have lost a game. Arsenal has lost games before in history and we will lose again in the future,” Wenger told the press after Sunday’s game. “We will stick together and cope with it and prepare for the next one with complete belief.”

Bit harsh, Arsène. Everyone has the right to ask questions and raise doubts, and it isn’t always being done in a disrespectful manner. It’s hard to say questions are asked in a reactionary way when we’ve won just six of 16 games this year.

“Supporters stand behind the club and we want to fight until the end of the season for every single game. It is nothing to do with confidence. Of course, the team have enough confidence.”

Challenging the support of the fans isn’t going to help. The concerns people have right now are largely valid and can’t be brushed aside because so much has been achieved in the past.

A response is needed and that response must come on the pitch, not in press conferences.
