Arsene Wenger has revealed that it hurt him to hear the mentality of his side questioned.

The boss was speaking after watching his side brush past a very disappointing Everton side at Goodison. The Gunners looked fluid and mobile, something that has been missing from their game domestically for a while now.

With the return of Danny Welbeck up front and the inclusion of Alex Iwobi and Mohamed Elneny in the squad alongside Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, Arsenal have stepped things up in a way they have been unable to do with Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud playing.

“I was pleased with how well they responded today,” said Wenger.

“It was a very significant win for us and a mental test.

“I like this group, I like the mental attitude, it has been questioned and that hurts me.

“When you work with them every day, you see how much effort they put in.”

Despite the result midweek, the signs were promising for Arsenal after their display in Spain.

In fact, we need not have worried ahead of the Everton game because Arsenal have won their last five Premier League games after crashing out of the Champions League.

This side, it seems, does indeed have bouncebackability.

If they could stop bouncing for a little bit, they might also be able to win the league.
