Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that if Arsenal lose to Hull on Tuesday, there will be consequences, but we’ll cross that bridge when and if we come to it.

The boss spoke ahead of the FA Cup replay at the KC Stadium and he’s more aware than anyone what crashing out of the competition we’ve won for two seasons in a row could do. With our chances of winning the Premier League dwindling, and Barcelona winning 2-0 on aggregate, the FA Cup is our biggest chances of a trophy this season.

“You always keep the same way of acting, which is to take care of the next game and then you deal with the consequences of it,” he said to Arsenal Player.

“That is what we will do – we want to go to Hull and try to qualify and hopefully play in the FA Cup again [against Watford on Sunday].”

Wenger has described losing to Hull as ‘disastrous’ on at least two occasions. The word does seem to accurately sum up what a defeat would mean for our season. To arguably have the best chance at winning the double for a decade and to not even win a trophy would almost certainly spell the end of Wenger’s tenure at Arsenal. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
