Arsene Wenger blamed yet another Arsenal defeat on bad luck once again.

After being beaten by Swansea 2-1 at the Emirates on Wednesday, Wenger was keen to point out post-match that we had several chances which hit the bar and that luck just wasn’t on our side that night.

“We had all the ingredients to win the game,” the Frenchman said to Arsenal Player.

“It looked like everything was against us tonight. They had two shots and two goals. We hit the bar, we hit the post and we were unlucky with the first goal because I think there was a foul [in the build-up]. I’m very disappointed by that.

“Football is football, it is cruel sometimes. We need to live with that and show that we can bounce back .

“We played well. We dominated the game and in the second half I think we had 65 per cent possession. We had many shots on goal but after we looked tired at the end and it became more difficult.”

The thing is, I could take Wenger’s comments at face value if this was a one-off occurrence, that’s football and sometimes it’s just not your day. However, this is happening game after game now. This period of ‘bad luck’ is following us around like a black cloud and sometimes you just have to sit down and consider that maybe we’re the problem.

Bad luck didn’t force us to drop off the pace after we’d gone 1-0 up. Bad luck didn’t force some of our players to run around like headless chickens for the final 20 minutes of the game. Therefore, maybe the boss should just consider that it’s not down to luck but our quality that’s losing us games.
