In goal for Poland on Wednesday night, Wojciech Szczesny produced some stunning second half saves.

Coming on for former Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski at half-time against Serbia, the 25-year-old did everything to stake his claim for the number one shirt at this summer’s European Championships.

Currently on loan at AS Roma, Szczesny is playing regularly in Serie A but faces a fight to start for Poland at this summer’s tournament. Given the second half of the 1-0 win against Serbia to impress, there’s not much more he could have done.

Szczesny is set to return to north London this summer and, with form like this, will fancy his chances of giving Petr Čech more competition for games than David Ospina has managed this season.
