Arsenal face world’s best player in Lionel Messi again on Wednesday night, but Barcelona are a little concerned about one of our stars.

So they should be.

German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen plays in the Champions League matches for Barça and has also played alongside Mesut Özil for the German national team, he believes the Arsenal playmaker can do things like Messi can.

“As a footballer, Özil is a player who can do unthinkable things, just like Messi,” ter Stegen told the media on Tuesday afternoon.

Arsenal go into the game two goals behind after Messi struck twice at the Emirates Stadium a few weeks ago. Though Özil is unlikely to do the same, it is a moment of magic from the German that could help Arsenal turn the tie around.

“He is impressive and we will have to be alert that he does not harm us.

“I have played with him two or three times and he is a very significant player for the German national team and can do incredible things.”

Wednesday evening and the Camp Nou would be quite the stage and the timing to produce one of those incredible things. In his time at Real Madrid, Özil managed seven assists in games against Barcelona, he can deliver against them and is the man Arsenal will look to to stay in the Champions League.
