Wojciech Szczesny’s loan club, Roma, crashed out of the Champions League against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Italian team lost 2-0 again, 4-0 on aggregate while Madrid progressed to the quarter-finals.

The goals came from the usual culprits, Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodríguez.

The loss marked the goalkeeper’s eighth appearance for Roma in the Champions League amid speculation that he may be staying at the Serie A club.

It’s still unclear where Woj will be, come next season. Ideally, he would have him back at Arsenal. No disrespect to David Ospina – he’s had a decent couple of games – but long-term, I see Woj learning under Petr Cech as beneficial for the 25-year-old and Arsenal. Cech only has a few more seasons left, which would pave the way for the Pole, who will just be entering that pivotal age.

Both Roma and Arsenal are keen on keeping the goalkeeper. We just have to see what he wants.
