Swansea’s boss, Francesco Guidolin, will miss his side’s game at the Emirates tonight after being admitted to hospital.

Guidolin, 60, has apparently been suffering from a chest infection for the past week and was admitted to hospital after being referred to a specialist when he failed to respond to treatment.

A statement on the official Swansea website assured fans that they expected their boss to make a full recovery and reported that he is ‘comfortable’.

Alan Curtis, the first-team coach, will be in charge on the touchlines.

“Guidolin has been struggling with a chest infection for over a week and after failing to respond fully to medical treatment, was referred to a respiratory specialist at a London hospital this afternoon.

The specialist felt that the best course of action was for Guidolin to remain in hospital for a few days to receive further treatment.

“He is in a comfortable position and is expected to recover fully in a few days.

“Everyone at Swansea City wishes him a speedy recovery.

“Alan Curtis will carry out his duties during his recovery period.”

Guidolin took over at the Swans in the middle of January this year after previously having worked with a long list of clubs that include Treviso, Fano, Empoli, Ravenna, Atalanta, Vicenza, Udinese Bologna, Palermo, Genoa, Monaco, and Parma.

His first game was on 24th January at Everton, a match they won 2-1 – the first time they had ever beaten the Toffess in the league.

Swansea are currently 16th in the Premier League with 27 points from 27 games.
