As well as being Arsenal Ladies right-back and captain, Alex Scott is doing work for Sky Sports and their Saturday morning TV show Soccer AM this season.

With an international break the current topic in world football, the Arsenal Ladies skipper has named her England XI for Euro 2016.

It’s no surprise to see her include Arsenal players in the team, but one was a little bit of a shock.

“This is very controversial, but instead of Lallana in my team, I would have the Ox,” said Scott, who has won 123 caps for the England Women’s team. “In my formation you need workers, which is Danny Welbeck on the left and the Ox getting up and down with pace and technical ability.”

Selecting Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has had a difficult season so far and is currently out with an injury, would be a slightly controversial move considering his club form. However, Roy Hodgson is a big fan of the Arsenal midfielder so it’s far from inconceivable.

“Lallana was good against Germany and gave us energy, but I just think we needed a bit more and the Ox can give us pace.

“With Harry Kane up top, Welbeck and the Ox are workers up and down the line and can do a defensive job as well.

“They’ve still got the technical ability to go forward and join the attacks. In international football it’s not about pretty football, it’s about winning games.”

Lallana is not as much of a defensive player and he can be inconsistent, maybe it isn’t such a surprise to see him in Scott’s England XI.

Jack Wilshere is fighting to be fit for the summer and will hope to return for Arsenal soon. If he can have half the impact Danny Welbeck has managed in the last six weeks, he will warrant selection.
