Much of Arsène Wenger’s team will pick itself on Saturday afternoon with the Gunners struggling with a number of injuries.

The goalkeeper, defence and midfield are all pretty straightforward choices but there are still decisions to be made.

David Ospina has stepped into Petr Čech’s place rather well and will start again with the goalkeeper still injured; hopefully, Arsenal will have him back after the international break. In defence, the obvious selections are Héctor Bellerín and Nacho Monreal, but centre-half is trickier.

The Barcelona match on Wednesday was Laurent Koscielny’s first in over two weeks, the boss seems to have lost patience with Per Mertesacker, and Gabriel is badly out of form. Two of them must play, but who will Wenger go for? My guess is it’s Gabriel and Koscielny once again.

In midfield an injury to Mathieu Flamini means Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny are the only viable options. Calum Chambers should come back into the squad in case something happens to one of them.

Mesut Özil will obviously play centrally as well.

After impressing on the right in midweek you’d hope Alexis Sánchez will play there again, taking on the adventurous Leighton Baines down the flank he could really give Everton problems. If Alex Iwobi deservedly keeps his place on the other wing that means no space for Joel Campbell and Theo Walcott in the side.

In recent weeks Arsenal have looked much better with Danny Welbeck on the pitch and particularly down the middle, but he still isn’t fully fit after 10 months out. Arsène Wenger appears to have given up with the idea of Walcott up front so we could see Olivier Giroud back in the side with Alexis asked to get in beyond him.
