Arsenal and England striker started for the Three Lions in Berlin on Saturday evening but was substituted with 20 minutes remaining.

The striker hadn’t trained for England earlier in the week after an agreement with Arsenal and there may be a little concern as he was seen with ice on his leg after heading to the bench.

Presumably, it was only a precaution after the trouble Welbeck has had with his knee but Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has admitted the striker has struggled a little since returning from his year-long layoff.

Thankfully for England, Welbeck’s replacement Jamie Vardy scored an equaliser before Eric Dier notched a late winner to give the Three Lions a 3-2 win.

England play the Netherlands at Wembley on Tuesday and Welbeck surely won’t be risked for another friendly.

Hopefully that means he will be fresh for Arsenal next weekend and this really was just a precaution in Berlin.
