Amid reports that Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger could be approaching the end of his reign, Mesut Özil has denied that he is looking to leave the club.

The media are piling pressure on the manager. Naturally their tactics include belittling the boss and pouring doubt over his ability in the transfer market.

As well as reports that the boss will be told to spend more money this summer, some outlets have even suggested star midfielder Mesut Özil is threatening to leave Arsenal if the Frenchman remains in charge. Özil took to Twitter on Tuesday to rubbish such claims.

The German is on international duty at the moment but clearly felt it was important to reiterate his support for the boss.

With a contract due to expire in 2018, Arsenal are keen to enter talks with the playmaker to convince him to sign a new deal. Happy to play under Arsène Wenger, Arsenal’s position is strengthened for the upcoming negotiations if the 27-year-old truly is so happy under the manager.

The boss was clearly a huge factor in bringing Özil to London and will be important if Arsenal want to keep the German at the Emirates Stadium in the future.
