Arsenal face FC Barcelona in the second leg of a Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday and we can only hope to fare better than Getafe did at Camp Nou on Saturday.

Resting top goalscorer Luis Suárez, last season’s treble winners put six past the visitors in another exceptional performance.

Lionel Messi missed a first-half penalty but delivered an otherwise flawless performance, scoring once and assisting three times. Left-winger Neymar chipped in with two goals of his own and Suárez replacement Munir El Haddadi was on the scoresheet too.

With Gerard Piqué suspended on Wednesday defenders Jeremy Mathieu and Thomas Vermaelen were both given chances to impress, there was also a rest for Andres Iniesta who was subbed with half an hour to play and three points in the bag.

The win was the 37th consecutive Barcelona game without defeat, and the Blaugrana have won 17 and drawn two of their 19 games since the turn of the year. In that time, they’ve now scored 61 times and conceded just 10 goals.

Requiring a 2-0 win or better on Wednesday, it’s a little difficult to see Arsenal heading through. It’s even harder in the knowledge Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez are fresh for the game.
