Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil was taken off as a precaution against Everton.

The German was substituted in the second half after John Stones landed on his ankle with his studs.

“It’s ankle problem but it looks more a kick than a ligament problem,” Wenger told reporters after his side’s comprehensive win at Goodison Park.

Arsenal, like all sides, now enter an interlull as the players head off on international duty.

Germany are set to play two meaningless friendlies against England and Italy during the break.

At this point, there is no indication if Ozil will be made available for those games but Joachim Low tends to show a lot of common sense when it comes to these matters and won’t use his star playmaker if there is a risk to his fitness.

Honest.
