Per Mertesacker confirmed to James Olley that he should be ok for this weekend’s game against Watford.

The German was taken off after he clashed heads with Hull’s Nick Powell. Although he tried to play on, he had to be replaced in what was the first of three forced substitutions on the night.

Gabriel picked up a hamstring injury while Aaron Ramsey a thigh problem.

With Lauren Koscielny also on the sidelines (calf) Arsenal were looking at some squad gymnastics to field a backline in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Thankfully, Per looks like he will be back for the weekend.

Spoke to Per Mertesacker as he boarded the #afc bus. Said he felt dizzy so he came off after being patched up. Should be OK for the weekend.

Arsenal can book their place at Wembley with a win over the Hornets. They will also move one step closer to sealing a third consecutive FA Cup win – a feat that has not been achieved since the 1880’s.

Will Arsene Wenger have one eye on the impending trip to Barcelona when he names his squad? Or, will he realise that ship has sailed and throw everything at the famous trophy instead?
