As if we didn’t already know how slim a chance we have of getting anything against Spurs on Saturday, Paul Scholes has to clumsily slide into the debate.

The former Manchester United man explained how he felt ‘conned’ after our 2-1 loss to Swansea on Wednesday and said he reckons we haven’t got the bottle to go to White Hart Lane and get a result following our run of losses.

“[Tottenham] can virtually put Arsenal away with a win,” he said to BT Sport.

“The question about Arsenal is – have Arsenal got the bottle to go there and win a game after the two results they’ve just had? I doubt whether they’ve got the bottle or the balls to go on and do it.

“This season I think I was a little conned by Arsenal. I thought they’d added a bit of steel with Cech and Ozil was really coming into his own and I had a slight feeling that they might go on to win it.

“But once again they haven’t disappointed, they always seem to, when it comes down to the crunch, lose their bottle and they can’t produce in big games.”

Why does he always have to get balls involved?

The worst part is I agree with him. I don’t see us getting a draw, let alone a win and as someone who usually at least tries to be optimistic, this hurts.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be supporting our team come 12:45pm on Saturday because that’s all we can do, but I won’t be expecting anything magical from a team that couldn’t even beat Swansea when we had no choice.

The only relief to come out of Wednesday is that Spurs also lost 1-0 to West Ham.
