The never ending request from fans and the media is that money is spent to secure top signings, but no money will sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

It’s widely accepted that up front is one area Arsenal could improve, and as a result, the Gunners have been linked with pretty much every striker with a reputation varying from decent to world class.

The Gabonese striker is somewhere approaching world class on that particular scale, but Manchester United are reportedly prepared to launch a £70m bid for the player, a fee Arsenal just wouldn’t compete with. Nonetheless, it wouldn’t help the Red Devils secure a deal.

With 32 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions so far this season, it’s no surprise Aubameyang is a wanted man. However, he signed a contract until 2020 back in the summer, and there’s just no way BVB will be willing to sell such an important player with four years left to go on his deal.

The upcoming transfer window could be a tough one for Thomas Tuchel’s side as Ilkay Gündogan looks set to leave. New contracts will be negotiated for Mats Hummels and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but failures to extend with the pair would mean they could be sold too. Aubameyang, however, will not be made available. Even less so should others leave.

There is even doubt that Aubameyang would choose England were he to leave Dortmund, with the striker declaring in the past that he has an interest in playing in La Liga eventually rather than the Premier League. Bid whatever you like United, you won’t be ‘beating’ Arsenal to his signature.
