Manchester City have been dealt a massive blow in the title race after losing both Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi to injury during the first half of their game against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League.
Kompany pulled up when clearing a ball and seemed to be in significant discomfort. He immediately signalled to the bench that he needed to come off before limping from the pitch looking, well, disgusted.
He lasted just five minutes of the match.
Otamendi clashed with a Dynamo Kiev player and was unable to shake off the injury.
City are just one teeny, tiny point behind Arsenal (with a better goal difference of +5) and their next game in the Premier League is at home to United in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Arsenal travel to Goodison Park more than 24 hours earlier despite playing 24 hours later in the Champions League.
Excellent planning once again.
This weekend will see plenty of pressure for City in a game which is guaranteed to see United turn up for a change.

Don’t let the media fool you that Arsenal are the only club feeling the strain this season. Pellegrini may already be on his way out, but a lot can happen (or fail to) between now and the end of the season.
