Hull might have been set to make a number of changes, but they’ll be forced to make another after Shaun Maloney picked up an ankle injury in training.

The news will be welcomed by Arsenal fans who know that Maloney has a habit of scoring against them. The forward will miss Tuesday’s replay and is set to be out of action for around three weeks.

A statement on the Hull website said

Shaun Maloney will miss tonight’s Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round Replay with Arsenal after picking up an injury in training on Monday.

Maloney damaged his ankle and although the injury isn’t too serious, the Scottish international is expected to be out of action for around three weeks.

Maloney has made just 12 appearances for Hull in the Championship this season and the 33-year-old has netted just once. In fact, he has just one goal all season in all competitions with just two assists to his name as well.

Still, that isn’t something that would stop Arsenal letting him grab a hattrick.

As it’s not a serious injury, we can be happy.

Will we be happy at the end of the game? Only time will tell. Arsenal have won their last three FA Cup games away from home and will be looking to extend that run on a rare foray outside of the capital.
