Dutch striker Donyell Malen netted a penalty for Netherlands u17s on Saturday, his first goal for his country at that level.

It was Malen’s 11th cap for the Netherlands u17 side and he hadn’t yet scored, though the majority of his appearances had come from the bench. No doubt converting the penalty will take some pressure off him.

The game ended 2-0 against Slovakia, a crucial win in a tight group for u17 European Championships qualifications that also contains Germany.

Malen has had an incredibly strong first season at Arsenal, signing his first professional contract and scoring five goal in eight games for the Arsenal u18s as well as four in nine (and just six starts) for the Arsenal u21s. There’s good reason to get excited about the youngster.

Reiss Nelson has already impressed for England in the same competition this week, you can see highlights and his goals here.
