It’s been a whirlwind week for Alex Iwobi, who scored his first Arsenal goal and has now been taken to hospital on international duty.

Teaming up with Nigeria for games in the next week, Iwobi’s progress has been stopped by food poisoning which has lseen him hospitalised.

After making a full Champions League debut against Barcelona on Wednesday last week, Iwobi scored on his full Premier League debut against Everton at the weekend and won’t want anything to get in the way of the progress he’s made lately.

The 19-year-old met up with his teammates on Monday but Nigerian head coach Samson Siasia has confirmed the midfielder was sent to hospital, where he is recovering from food poisoning.

“He suffered from food positioning and so was not part of training,” Siasia said. “His condition is stable.”

The midfielder has missed training with the Super Eagles on Tuesday and will hope to be back for their two games against Egypt in the next week. After such an impressive week, Iwobi was expected to start against Egypt on Friday but there’s no doubt that he’ll be able to play.

We wish Alex a speedy recovery and hope to see him back soon.
