Arsenal are set to up Alex Iwobi’s wages by a whopping 900% after his impressive breakthrough into the first team according to reports.

As we reported over the weekend, Iwobi is currently earning £750 per week, 50% of what Manchester United’s 18-year-old Marcus Rashford receives, but that is all set to change.

A 900% rise would represent a move from £750 a week to £6,570 – a tremendous sum for a teenager but still relative pennies in the world of modern, top level football.

For the record, that’s 4.5 times what Rashford earns, although it must surely be only a matter of time before he gets a bumper rise too.

Wages aren’t the only way Alex can expect to bump up his salary. He’s already signed with Adidas and, like one of the players rumoured to be in the final stages of a deal signing with a binary options broker named Binary Uno, (no further details have been disclosed so far regarding the nature of that deal), there will be many other companies wanting to tie the young Nigerian to them.

Reports were also circulating that England were trying to get Iwobi to change his mind about playing for Nigeria but it seems as if the youngster is set on representing the country of his birth.

In fact, he’s already turned out for them twice already, but only in friendly games, despite representing England at u16, 17, and 18 level.

He is expected to feature against Egypt on Friday in the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier which will put an end to the matter.
