A goal and man of the match award on Saturday, it was a full Premier League debut to remember for Alex Iwobi.

The Nigerian international made his full Champions League debut against Barcelona last week and followed it up by starting in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Goodison Park.

“It is not bad, I’m enjoying the moment,” the midfielder said after the match. “I’m just happy to help my team and that is a positive so we will take that into the next game.”

Working well with Danny Welbeck, who also scored at the weekend, the Arsenal attack looks refreshed by having two new faces in the team and Iwobi is pleased to be alongside his new teammate.

“It is a dream playing with him,” Iwobi added. “He gives me confidence, he is helping me out and gives me advice.

“It works, we are all confident in training. Even though we have had a difficult week, we are trying to put that aside and concentrate on the league.”

Despite poor form the Arsenal squad has remained upbeat throughout the last two months. Heading out of the FA Cup and the Champions League in the space of a few days, the squad could have taken the hit badly but responded well at Everton.

Now heading into the international break, the Gunners have at least threatened to get the Premier League season back on track.

Iwobi will represent Nigeria over the international period before returning to London, where Welbeck and co. will have to keep spirits high and provide the teenager with even more confidence to help drive Arsenal’s desperate title bid.
