Both Petr Čech and Laurent Koscielny are out of Tuesday’s game against Hull City, but we could be waiting even longer than anticipated before we see the pair.

Koscielny’s last appearance came at Old Trafford when he seemed to be fine. However, the defender has missed Arsenal’s last two Premier League games and is set to miss the weekend’s fixture too.

“Laurent will be short for Hull. he has a chance to be available for the weekend, but I think even for then he will be short,” Arsène Wenger said on Monday morning. It’s a little concerning, as the boss had expected the defender to be fit for next weekend just a few days ago. No alternative timeframe has been given for his return.

There is a timeframe for Petr Čech, who has not suffered a serious injury. The 33-year-old pulled up running back after heading forward for a corner against Swansea City and the boss has now had the results of scans.

“Petr’s scans were better than expected, but it will still be four weeks for him. So after the international break.”

He was ruled out for ‘three to four weeks’ before the weekend, and is now out for four weeks after a scan which had delivered better results than expected? Something doesn’t quite add up, but we’ll give Arsène the benefit of the doubt this time and hope he can play immediately after the international break at the end of the month.
