There is an injury doubt over Theo Walcott, who was expected to feature for England on Tuesday evening.

The Arsenal forward suffered a dead leg and missed a training session with England at the end of last week as the team prepared for their 3-2 win over Germany. Walcott was on the bench but didn’t feature in the Three Lions’ win.

Unlike Danny Welbeck, Walcott isn’t exactly a favourite of England boss Roy Hodgson so starting on Tuesday night against the Netherlands was going to be a huge opportunity for Theo to earn a place at the European Championships.

However, a dead leg looks likely to rule him out of the Wembley friendly and could bring his hopes of playing for England this summer crashing down to earth.

If fit, Hodgson is sure to select Welbeck and Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge. Wayne Rooney is his captain and almost guaranteed to go to France, while strikers Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane have had fantastic seasons and both scored in Berlin on Saturday evening. Tuesday night really was going to be Walcott’s last chance to make an impression.

A dead leg shouldn’t be serious enough to keep Walcott out of Arsenal’s game against Watford on Saturday, but it could keep him out of this summer’s European Championships.
