Struck in the back during Saturday’s second half against Everton, Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina somehow managed to play on until the end of the game.

The Colombian was hurt in a collision with Romelu Lukaku and Gabriel but played no and kept a clean sheet to help Arsenal to all three points. Now on international duty, the 27-year-old has said he didn’t even have a scan before leaving for South America.

Now ready for World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Ecuador, the goalkeeper has quelled fears the injury could be a bad one.

“I’ve a little sore back, but nothing serious,” he told AS Colombia.

“There was not much time to get a review because I left the party directly for the airport, then today the medical staff of the national team will examine me in the best way.”

Though nothing could be done by the Arsenal medical team, we have to trust the Colombian staff to do their jobs well. They are also professionals, so there’s no reason he isn’t in safe hands.

Arsenal are already without Petr Čech in goal so losing Ospina to injury after the internationals would be a blow if the Czech goalkeeper isn’t back then. Hopefully both are available at the start of April and Arsène Wenger isn’t left with a huge headache and an unproven player like Matt Macey in goal.
