Forward, Freda Ayisi, has signed a new deal with Birmingham City ahead of the new Super League season.

The Arsenal youth product, who left the club in February 2015, made her senior Arsenal debut in 2013. She was nominated as a candidate for PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year just a few months after her Arsenal departure.

A statement on the Birmingham website from manager, David Parker, said “Freda is without question one of the most talented youngsters in the country and this season will mark an important step in her career.

“Committing to a new contract will allow her to continue to develop, so that she can fully utilise her potential and become a force in the FA Women’s Super League.”

While at Arsenal, she was only ever on the fringes of the side but did manage to find the back of the net on a few occasions.

A strong player, one of her main assets is her ability to play with her back to goal and hold up the ball.

She does, however, have a tendency to take too many touches.
