Gabriel could face a retrospective ban for his disgusting tackle on Troy Deeney.

The centre-back slid in with two feet in a crunching tackle, which could have left Deeney with a broken leg. For some wild reason, Andre Marriner didn’t red card Gabriel, or even give him a talking to, despite the incident occurring right in front of his face.

Minutes later, the Brazilian slid in for another horrendous challenge further up the pitch and still didn’t even see yellow. He was lucky to still be on the pitch and Watford were lucky to have all their players’ legs still intact after the final whistle.

Due to Marriner not punishing Gabriel on the pitch, the defender could face a retrospective ban of three matches, which would be absolutely correct.

Laurent Koscielny is returning to fitness and Per Mertesacker is fine when he doesn’t have Gabriel launching himself around the pitch. Gabriel needs to learn that you can’t do that. This isn’t the first time his decision-making has been poor and if he doesn’t get punished, it won’t be the last.
