Watford Striker, Troy Deeney, has admitted that his six-year-old son, Myles, is actually a Gooner.

Deeney revealed ahead of our FA Cup quarter-final clash against the Hornets that this is the first time he’s ever brought his son to the Emirates and Myles is apparently ‘buzzing’ to watch his favourite player in the flesh.

“He is buzzing. He gets to go to Arsenal,” Deeney said.

“It’s the first time I’ve taken him to the Emirates so he will be happy.

“He is a six-year-old boy so it doesn’t matter if it is daddy playing or not, he wants Arsenal to win because that’s who he is on FIFA. His favourite player is Alexis Sanchez. It is one of those things.

“You have just got to learn to live with it. No pocket money this weekend I think. The family will be in a box and they get to watch the game, and I’ll be making sure he doesn’t cheer if Arsenal do manage to get a goal.”

Although Deeney is no David Beckham, it does remind me of when the former Manchester United man would bring his son, Romeo, to the Emirates. It’s good to see footballers, no matter who they support or play for, allowing their children to have their say in who they follow. Of course, kids are more likely to support the club their family has brought them up watching but taking them to see their favourite team regardless is really sweet.

Hopefully, young Myles will have a great day out at the Emirates and Arsenal can give him a reason to have his pocket-money docked.
