Taking his coaching badges and frequently injured, Mikel Arteta’s future seems destined to end in a coaching rule.

But where?

The Arsenal captain has been taking some coaching sessions with some of Arsenal’s youth teams and has been linked with a move to Manchester City to team up with Pep Guardiola next season.

However, speaking to El Confidencial, the Spaniard has said even he doesn’t know what lies in store for him. During the interview he complimented Mauricio Pochettino’s work at Tottenham and was asked if he would join the Argentine, join Guardiola or even be sat alongside Arsène Wenger on the bench at the Emirates Stadium next season.

“Right now I’m just focused on myself…(to be) able to contribute to help my team on the pitch, get to the very exciting end of the season that is in sight and hopefully win the Premier League,” answered the 33-year-old.

“The next chapter is complicated and, today, I am not clear.

“Obviously, it is impossible not to think what is going to happen in three months, when I finish my contract here.

“(I) do not want to make any decisions without knowing for sure how I am doing and what I feel like doing to ‘return to the ring’. I don’t have to rush.”

Highly thought of in the Arsenal dressing room, it would be a surprise to see the club let Arteta go without a fight. The current club captain has barely featured in the last 18 months but could have a big future in north London in another capacity.

However, there may be a dilemma if the Spaniard wants to continue playing. Time will tell where his future lies.
