Arsenal Ladies and Seattle Reign have announced a friendly game to be played on the 26th of May. It will be the ladies’ first visit to the USA in 10 years.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the Arsenal squad to play one of the best NWSL team. Another high profile friendly for the team following the games against Bundesliga winners FC Bayern and multiple time Champions League winners Wolfsburg at the pre-season camp in Spain.

“Arsenal Ladies will play Seattle Reign in the United States on Thursday, May 26, during a mid-season break in the Women’s Super League.

“The match will see the Gunners test themselves against one of the National Women’s Soccer League’s leading sides.

“Seattle Reign have won the NWSL Shield in 2014 and 2015 consecutively and the clash will also mean a reunion with former manager Laura Harvey and midfielder Kim Little.

“Arsenal will spend a total of five days in Washington, holding a training camp before the game at Memorial Stadium.”

It will be very interesting to compare the FA WSL and NWSL. Arsenal Ladies played games against teams from the CONMENBOL and AFC confederations a couple of seasons ago.  Playing a CONCACAF team will be really interesting with the prospect of a potential Women’s Club World Cup in 2017.
