According to reports recently Arsenal are close to signing a young, lower division French striker who is out with a spine injury.

If you were playing Wenger bingo with this story, you could probably retire on your winnings with that lot.

Anthony Koura currently plays for Olympique Nimes in Ligue 2 and scored nine in nine before picking up the injury that has ruled him out since the end of February.

The list of other clubs said to be interested in him is long, but not all that impressive – Newcastle, Sunderland, Stoke the calibre of clubs linked.

The Sun claim that he’s worth £1.6m while Transfermarkt says £450k.

Judge for yourself:

Interesting but irrelevant fact: Koura is of Maori origin and also refers to two New Zealand freshwater crayfish.
