Andre Marriner is set to referee Arsenal v Watford on Sunday.

The man from the West Midlands isn’t necessarily a terrible referee, especially when compared to some of the clowns officiating in the Premier League this season. However, when he does make a blunder, boy does he do it in style. Remember the unforgettable incident when he sent Kieran Gibbs off instead of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain? Yeah, that’s our guy.

Marriner has been in charge of 26 matches so far this season, dished out 87 yellow cards and five reds – half the amount of Mike Dean and Kieth Stroud. His last red card was actually during last Sunday’s controversial Premiership match between Crystal Palace and Liverpool. However, one of his few red cards this season was against Newcastle in our win over the Magpies in August.

In Marriner’s total time refereeing at the top level, he’s been in charge of 25 Arsenal games. During those matches, we’ve won 18, lost five and drawn two. Therefore, our odds are looking pretty good, as long as he doesn’t hesitate to protect our players if Watford get a bit ‘kicky’. Watford are finding it hard to find the net at the moment and I’m sure what they lack in prowess they’ll make up for in ‘physicality’.
