A goal in the north London derby was a long time coming for Alexis Sánchez and has put his mind at ease after a long goal drought.

The Chilean star hadn’t scored in the Premier League since October, but the equaliser at White Hart Lane earned the side a point and will hopefully revitalise a crucial part of the Arsenal attack.

“The truth is that I do enjoy [the responsibility]. When I don’t score goals I feel like I’ve failed the team and I feel guilty,” the forward told Arsenal.com.

“I go home, can’t sleep and I just think I have to play better.”

After a very strong first campaign in London, Alexis has struggled to have much of an impact this season. His form hasn’t been good and he was rushed back into the side after a summer winning the Copa América.

It really didn’t help that he picked up an injury in December, but he’s back now and looking sharper again.

“I think that I’ve adapted really well in terms of fitting into the club and it’s been very good,” insisted the former Barcelona man. “But at the same time I’m not the kind of person to become complacent or think, ‘That’s it’.

“I always want to improve and give my absolute all to the team.”

There’s never any questioning the Chilean’s lack of effort, and we can only hope his talent and endeavour brings us success over the next few months.
